[Gregor's fingers tangle in the horse's mane for a bit, then pat the great neck before he backs off.]

Do you want to see my horse?

[Nod.]

I should like that.

[In the next stall is a beautiful dark bay mare. The name on the placard outside is "General Alys." Gregor's face lights up when he sees her. He's obviously proud.]

Meet Alys.

[complicatedliar]

Ah, what a beautiful lady...

[He smiles, offering her his hand, palm flat, and another apple.]

Well hello, lady. You've a lovely name as well...

[General Alys smells the apple a bit, then condescends to much on it. Since he's polite and all that.]

When I first got her, I'd intended for her to be the start of this public stable thing, but she deserves more than life as a rented pack animal. She's a proper Vor lady. [He pats her side with clear affection.]

[complicatedliar]

Not knowing what a Vor is, I shall take your word for it. She is quite lovely, no mistaking. [He smiles.]

[vor]

The Vor are our...sort of our upper crust, I suppose. Military caste. High Vor are our equivalent of an aristocracy.

[He feeds Alys a sugar cube when she's finished with the apple, glossing over her neck with one hand.]

Ah, I see. Yes, she is a noble lady indeed, so I shall agree with you.

[vor]

High Vor. [He gives her one more fond pat.] I'm ten points away from adding another horse. I'll need all the help I can get.

[complicatedliar]

[Loki nods.]

I think I shall save my own... points... for a horse when it comes to that, unless a more useful purchase makes itself known.

So I will be glad to help. I haven't had much chance to be around horses for a while.

You'd be welcome here. [Gregor ponders for a moment.] Would you care to go on a ride?

[That... is not something he's used to hearing. But he'll take it.

Loki smiles.] I should like that very much.

I thought Pinkie Pie had that covered.

Choose a horse and saddle up, then.

Uh oh, therapy turf war coming.

[complicatedliar]

[Loki chooses the newly-named Kolbakr; as much as the horse reminds him of Vakri, he can't help it. He gets the horse ready with practiced efficiency.]

[Gregor leads Alys out into the yard outside and swings astride with ease.] Ready?

[complicatedliar]

[Loki mounts up and nods.] Please, lead the way.

[vor]

[The best way to avoid the feeling of the enclosure being a prison is to get around it a bit. Gregor leads Loki over the grasslands to the east. The more they ride, the more Gregor appears to relax and forget himself.]

[complicatedliar]

[Loki relaxes in much the same way, riding easily along. He's content to do so in silence as well, just enjoying the feeling of being on a horse again.]

[vor]

[Gregor is more than happy to remain in companionable silence for the trip. When they encounter a stream from the mountains, though, he stops and dismounts to let Alys drink.]

[Loki slides from Kol's back, leading him to drink next to Alys.

The view is nice enough; almost nice enough to forget that they're still within a prison.]
