[Gregor is sick as a dog. Apartments adjacent to his have probably heard violent, deep, chesty coughing for about two weeks now. Ordinarily, he'd have on-site approved physicians checking him out and prescribing whatever antibiotic was necessary, but here, he has to actually go seek out help. So. To the Battle Dome clinic he goes, looking specifically to see Adele LeBlanc when she's in. He will wait for her, if necessary.

Afterwards, he's going to the library, then the bakery for coffee and something sweet. Anyone stopping in can see him sitting inside, devouring a psychology textbook and sipping coffee, the cream cakes reduced to crumbs. They are the only thing he has eaten all day. He is not looking great, occasionally falling into bad coughing fits, for which he ducks outside, but recovering fairly quickly. When he heads home, he goes straight to bed despite his plans to work out. And the fact that it's the middle of the day.]

The Battle Dome has very realistic features. If not, give it time, I've heard that places like the beach weren't always there, maybe this Christmas we will get a volcano.

If I was any newer I would say yes. Unfortunately I know it's a "no", otherwise we wouldn't have been paired up.

He had no place to complain to begin with. Why are we following an arbitrary set of rules if not to keep him from complaining?

To keep him from complaining and being noisy. And because in this village there are too many who wouldn't approve of beating others when they get too annoying.

Neither did I. Somehow I don't think that's the point.

The point of his project thing? From what I gathered he just adds whoever he feels like.

The point is morale, I think. And yes, there are better ways.

Anything is better than to bother people who don't want anything to do with something when there are others who kick each other to be able to participate.

I meant the "Make friends with random strangers" thing, but I know plenty of people who would love to join that too.

That's what I meant--it's an alternative to the current arrangement.

As long as the "introverts" are only people who sign up themselves and not random people someone decides that need more friends, I would be fine with that.

I doubt any who needed it would sign up. ~~At least, not~~ The nature of being somewhat reclusive is a lack of motivation to be more social.

Just because someone is somewhat reclusive doesn't mean they don't have friends or anything though.

Precisely. There's nothing wrong with being a quiet person. It's not some genetic mistake for someone to fix.

If you ask me what seems like a genetic mistake is the people who think that everyone should be friends with everyone.

Maybe not genetic, just rampant idealism gone wrong.

With the way some are about it you would think they really have it written in their genetic system.

Some people are less social than others. It doesn't mean anything's wrong with us.

Tell me something I don't know.

I think people are concerned, mostly. Quietude is seen as repression.

Out of all the things to be concerned about, I don't see why waste time being worried about something that isn't a problem. Or at least something that isn't their problem.

The worst is when they ask, "When was the last time you had fun?"

Because there's only one way to have "fun", right. I have gotten those questions a lot, together with "When was the last time you were happy?"

Last time I checked smiling didn't mean one was happy right away.
